the baker's gym
Homeschool table- creative chaos?
A and I make pasta together, and it kind of takes a lot of arm muscle. The dough is very firm and kneading it for 10 minutes takes strength, and then grinding the handle on the pasta maker takes some too. But in the end we all enjoy the fruits of our labor! Once A goes to University next year (!) someone else will have to be taught the ropes to be my helper. Today while I was kneading the pasta dough, W said there ought to be a "baker's gym" where you go-and for exercise you have to knead dough and such. . .I think it's a fabulous idea!
Just started listening to this audiobook. I love Katherine May, and have read the actual books "Wintering" and "Enchantment." I wanted something to listen to while exercising, sewing etc. and so far this is as good as her other books. I haven't gotten very far, but a lot of it resonates with me just so very much.
Love, Melanie
I have always loved your homeschool tablescapes! Thanks for the book recommendation, I have been needing something to sink into.
ReplyDeleteI love everything here Melanie! Specially your socks :-) We are always later that everywhere else at planting stuff, mainly cause we cannot get it outside til the end of June. But I will start carrots and leeks this weekend in milk cartons. I have given up on tomatoes unfortunately, they dont seen to thrive with me.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes to pasta! We also make pasta once in a while, we should really make it more often. I tend to be lazy at carving the time to make it, cause it does require some time. But I need to stop making excuses and just make time for it, slow down and enjoy the "non efficient" pasta making. I reflected on my last post about the fact that we should start being less efficient in our everyday lives, start enjoying the process more.
Very long comment, but I love catching up with what you are up to. P.S. cannot believe our kids are going to uni/college already! Time flies!
Hello Melanie! I used to follow your old blog WAAAAY back when. I miss it. I loved all your homeschool and daily living posts. I miss seeing what your family was up to! Is there a way to see those old blogs? Or did you remove them completely? Makes me sad if you did. They were so lovely to read. Following this new blog!
ReplyDeleteHi Robin! Unfortunately I no longer have the old blogs available, to give my children more privacy. Thank you so much for reading! I'm so glad you're here.
DeleteAlso, where did you get that wonderful gnome/fairy underground map? It's wonderful. My granddaughter would love it!
ReplyDeleteHi Robin! Sorry I didn't see this until now! That is a placemat I bought at the website "a toy garden" a while back.
DeleteThanks so much for letting me know. I'm going to see if I can find one!
