Gray November

How has it been so long since I've posted? We've experienced that dramatic and sudden shift in seasons here, the time between fall and winter where it is still technically Autumn, but feels so much more like winter at times, and even snows a bit.

This is my time of year.

Bring me the rattly leaves, the brisk wind, the toasty smells outside. Bring me the early evening darkness, the need to wrap in woolens, that first fire, the smell of woodsmoke on the air.

I have been my winter self for a few years now. The quieter me, the hibernator, the inwardness and contemplative self. The last few years put me firmly there- first there was no choice when the world shut down, then it continued as I have been grappling with my past and future selves. I hope that I can come out of that winter when the time is right, in the spring.

Reading/recently finished reading:

The House By the Cerulean Sea, and Under The Whispering Door, by T.J. Klune- absolutely beautiful books.

The Hazel Wood, Tales from the Hinterland, and The Night Country, all by Melissa Albert. SO good.

I Thought it was Just Me, by Brene Brown - just starting this one.  Going to read "Braving the Wilderness" by Brene Brown after.

The Woman In Cabin 10, by Ruth Ware a bit disturbing, if I'm honest- but it is a murder mystery after all.

Who Ate the First Oyster? - so interesting!

And lastly, I am going to pull out Wintering by Katherine May, to read again.

Love,

Melanie
